About Curanim Pilates
We believe that wellness is about more than physical fitness; it is about nurturing your entire self—body, mind, and soul. Here, you will experience the power of mindful movement, conscious breathing, and holistic care, all working in harmony to restore balance and vitality in your life.

The Meaning of Curanim
The name Curanim blends the Latin words cura — to care or tend to — and anima — breath, life, and soul.
Together they reflect our purpose: to care for what is most vital to you.
At Curanim, we believe wellness extends beyond physical fitness. It is about nurturing the whole self — body, mind, and breath.
Through mindful movement, conscious breathing, and thoughtful instruction, our practice supports balance, strength, and a deeper connection to the body.
Founding Story
Curanim Pilates was founded by Amy Berberich from a deep belief that movement should support the whole person — not just the body, but the breath, the nervous system, and the rhythms of real life.
Amy’s journey into Pilates began in 2009 after the birth of her daughter, a season that fundamentally changed how she understood her body, her energy, and the way she needed to move. Pilates offered her a way to rebuild strength while honoring breath, recovery, and presence. It reshaped not only how she moved, but how she connected to her body and how she would eventually guide others. She was comprehensively certified through Pilates Sports Center in 2011 and opened her first studio with a business partner.
Like many women, Amy has moved through many phases of life — each one inviting a deeper relationship with the body. Over time she came to recognize that we are often taught to look outside ourselves for answers: the next product, the next diet, the next quick solution. Yet the body holds a remarkable wisdom of its own.
When we slow down, breathe, and become quiet enough to listen, that wisdom begins to surface. Our intuition strengthens, and we begin to understand what truly supports us — physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Years later, the loss of Amy’s mother to cancer shifted her perspective again. This experience invited her to look at health through a wider lens, recognizing that true well-being extends far beyond physical movement. It is shaped by how we nourish and hydrate, how we sleep and replenish, how we balance movement with rest, how we manage stress, and how connected we feel to others. This guided her to get certified as a Functional Nutrition Lifestyle Practitioner through Full Body Systems lead by Andrea Nakayama, so she could confidently work with clients holistically.
Together, these experiences formed the foundation of Amy’s approach to teaching and leadership. Through comprehensive training, over 15 years of practice, and ongoing mentorship, she developed a style rooted in breath-led movement, thoughtful progressions, and whole-person care. Her work meets clients where they are while supporting long-term strength, resilience, and self-trust.
Curanim was created as a welcoming space where consistency is celebrated and perfection is not required. It is a place where movement is approached as a lifelong practice supporting strength, calm, and connection through every stage of life
